השם אונ'נאנוקו, שמשמעותו "בנות" ביפנית, נבחר מתוך חיבור והיכרות עם האסתטיקה היפנית, אשר מאופיינת בדיוק רב ותשומת לב לפרטים, לצד גישת ה"וואבי-סאבי" המתמקדת בקבלת הארעיות וחוסר השלמות. חיבור זה משקף את השפה העיצובית שנוצרת מהמפגש בין נועה ואילה.

הבגדים שלנו הם על-זמניים, מתאימים לכל עת ומקום ועשויים בדים איכותיים ועמידים אשר שורדים במבחן הזמן. עמידות ואיכות בלתי-מתפשרת היא נר לרגלנו, זאת מתוך מחשבה שהבגד מלווה אותנו חיים ולא רגע חולף.
הבגדים מעוצבים בישראל, מתוך מטרה לתרום ולחזק את הכלכלה המקומית ואת הקהילות שסביבנו.
On'nanoko is an Israeli fashion brand for women, based in Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael situated on the coastline, in the northern part of Israel. The brand was established in 2014 by designers: Ayala Assael (a member of the Kibbutz) and Noa Sadeh-Horowitz. Both graduates of Shenkar – College of Engineering, Design & Art.
On'nanoko, meaning Girls in Japanese, was a name chosen for the brand as a result of the encounter with the profound precise and detailed Japanese aesthetics as well as the Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetics centering on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Mirroring the aesthetics of Ayala & Noa's duo.
Coming from a Middle Eastern country with a dramatic climate, super-hot summers, and wet and cold winters, has a major impact on the patterns and fabrics we choose to use. Voting for natural fibers over synthetic, and the loose and comfy patterns of the clothes, as layering plays a big part of our designs.
We want our garments to be long lasting designs, made of durable fabrics. Gradually building up a closet with our clothes, which can be worn with other clothes from our former collections.
We pride ourselves in top-notch tailoring, with an additional emphasis set on the small details in the design that make each garment a stand-alone piece, which can also be worn as an ensemble. This uniqueness of each pattern, is what we believe to be at the base of our brand. A non-compromising quality, a precise design and an ability to relate to the fast paced women of today, making her feel confident and pretty, without compromising her comfort.
With the purpose of contributing to the local economy, we have chosen to manufacture and design in Israel.
